Artist Statement:

My work is inspired by my roles as being a parent, husband, son, grandson, and a Christian. In essence, it is about who I was, who I am, and who I want to be. The works are quiet fragments of thoughts and time. They allow me to realize things about myself that I never knew before. In a way, they are little secrets about me. While much of the work is done for personal reasons, I also want my work to tap people on the shoulder and whisper a secret for their own cogitation. If my work allows someone to drift off and think about his or her own life, then I am pleased.

My current creative work is a combination of two passions in my life: digital photography and painting. I use the computer to alter realities or create new ones. I want the work to be what I envision in my mind, not what is physically there at the moment. I must bend and reshape, eliminate or create new meanings in order to make tangible my perception. Digital imagery can be in constant flux and not give a true rendering of who we were physically, mentally, or spiritually at that particular time. The image can be changed with our moods or growth as long as it is digitized and can be easily manipulated. The painting processes that I apply to my work allow for my thoughts or visions to finally become concrete; once they are dried glazes of paint they become real, and their true secrets are revealed.
